Westfalia
The massive empire of Westfalia is in decline.
Once vibrant and powerful, the empire stretched across the entire known world; everything within its borders was “The Known.” Huge, sophisticated metropolises and trade ports were the anchors of Westfalian society, and over the centuries dozens of provinces and colonies were created as the empire expanded.
But Westfalia could not stand forever. Corruption, assassinations, warfare, incompetence, devil cults, orc hordes, natural disasters, and economic forces slowly wore away at the great society.
Today, The Westfalian Empire is still technically intact, but in practice the provinces and colonies exist autonomously. The fragments of imperial society still remain, administered by regional governors, generals, and clergy who draw their authority from tradition and ancient laws.
Our adventure begins at the far reach of Westfalian influence in the untamed northeast, beyond the Known.
